Zoe is a 4 year old spayed, female Boxer/American Bulldog that I adopted from the Humane Society on May 28, 2003.  Zoe was found as a stray, and brought to the Racine County Humane Society.  At that time, I was volunteering at the Kenosha County Humane Society (now Safe Harbor).  When I got done walking the dogs, I decided that I would take a ride to Racine to see what dogs that they had for adoption.

At the time, I was not really looking for a dog.  I just wanted to look and see what dogs were available.  Well when I rounded the corner, there was Zoe (previously knows as "Princess").  She was sitting in the back of the kennel.  I walked up to the gate, and she immediatly came forward.  I was able to pet her and play with her...as much as you can through the fence.  After seeing her, I immediately went to fill out an application on her.

I visited the shelter everyday (I was on Short Term Disability from work, and was just waiting on word from my Doctor that it was okay to go back to work).  I called everyday to see if her owners had claimed her since she was found as a stray.  Strays have to wait 7 days to be reclaimed before they are available for adoption.

At first, the shelter tried to give me a hard time because she was an American Bulldog.  I explained to them that I had been around Pittbulls all my life, and that an American Bulldog was a relative of the Pitt.  The lady was shocked.

After making a phone call to a relative that use to work for the ASPCA about the trouble they were giving me,  My realative called me back and said that they will not be bothering me anymore.

The next day, the shelter called and said that I was going to be able to adopt her.  She just had to be spayed!!!

YEAH!!!!

I came up with the name Zoe after looking through baby books and looking up different names on the internet.  Finally I decided on "Zoe" because it means "life" and that was what I was doing for her...giving her a brand new life.

And that is how Zoe came to live with me.

Thank you Zoe

Thanks to Zoe, I started her website, just to show off her pictures.  And after showing off her pictures, I wanted to add some helpful links.  And some of those helpful links were of Boxer Rescue.  The more research that I did, the more I learned that there was a greater need for Boxer Rescue.

And I thank Zoe for that.

I also thank Zoe for letting me volunteer with Green Acres Boxer Rescue, and to let me help foster.  Because if she didn't get along so well with other dogs, I wouldn't be able to help as many homeless Boxers.  And I wouldn't have found Miss Magic either!!!

So thank you Zoe for showing me things that I never knew, and letting me help those other poor babies that need our help.

Thank you!!!
